Position Overview

The Manager is responsible for creating a safe, supportive, and engaging home for residents while ensuring efficient operation of the Chapter House. This includes oversight of staff, food service, facilities, resident relations, and administrative and financial coordination. The Chapter House is not an assisted living community; all residents must live independently.


Key Responsibilities

Operations & Community Life

  • Oversee daily operations and communications
  • Coordinate events, activities, and community outreach
  • Promote Chapter House living and assist with prospective residents

Resident Support

  • Welcome and assist residents, responding to needs and concerns
  • Maintain resident records and support independent living standards
  • Communicate appropriately with families when needed

Staff Leadership

  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise employees
  • Maintain employee records, evaluations, and payroll coordination

Food Service Oversight

  • Work with kitchen staff on menus, purchasing, and service
  • Ensure health and safety compliance
  • Arrange staffing coverage and assist when needed

Facilities & Grounds

  • Coordinate maintenance, repairs, and inspections
  • Oversee service providers and grounds care
  • Respond to building needs and emergencies

Financial & Administrative Support

  • Partner with the Treasurer on budgeting and financial processes
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely handling of expenses and receipts
  • Support compliance with nonprofit (501(c)(3)) requirements

Board Collaboration

  • Report to and work closely with the Chapter House Board of Trustees
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings and provide updates
  • Assist with planning, policy implementation, and organizational goals

Schedule

Full-time position, typically Monday–Friday, with one week per month scheduled Tuesday–Saturday.


Ideal Candidate

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience in management, hospitality, or senior living preferred
  • Ability to lead staff while fostering a positive, respectful environment
  • Comfortable handling a wide range of responsibilities with professionalism and care
